About our school

The 7th Gymnasium of Kavala was founded in September 1987. It is the last Junior High School built in the city of Kavala. It is in no way, however, the last in matters of learning, knowledge, creative activities or events. It is located in the Byron area, on the base of the hill, “planted” in its small grove. Pupils from the wider area are enrolled in it, as well as pupils from Palio.

Our students, aged 11-15, are willing students, eager to participate in projects (ecological, artistic, technological, refugee-protection related ones etc.). They have already participated in meetings and conferences with students and people from several other countries in Asia, Africa, Europe and America (they have had several presentations on sustainability, alternative energy, recycling, traditional exchange practices reader’s theater etc.) and have been exchanging correspondence with students from other countries, through extra-curricular school programs.

Our goal is to continuously improve the quality of learning and to make the most of the modern tools available and the new methods that will help to modernize the school and acquire a European dimension.

The needs of our school are related to qualitative enhancement of the students’ lives, school administration and the introduction of innovations in the educational process. We are specifically aiming for:

-Inclusion of all students in the school activities and equal acceptance of all school members.

-Creation of emotions of empathy and tolerance as well as enhancement of students’ school life situations without bullying or fighting.

-Promotion of the life of students through qualitative practices (healthy diet, healthy environment, in-school production of organic food).

-Enhancement of the school premises through sustainable building renovations, eco-friendly practices and alternative energy projects

-Development of strategy for school and strategic planning skills.

-Improving school quality management through the development of a self-assessment system, with the active involvement of the entire educational community.

-Managing educational potential and strengthening the cooperative approach by creating teams of teachers who work together in different projects.

-Class management.

-Implementation of innovative teaching methods in the classroom and exchange of good practices with foreign and Greek schools.

-Elaboration of partnerships with foreign schools aiming at the exchange of good practices in various fields (ecology, arts, ICT), the development of European awareness among teachers and pupils and the future participation of schools in strategic partnership programs.
